Methylergonovine Maleate
Generic name: Methylergonovine Maleate
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Uterine stimulant & Oxytocic
Therapeutic indication: Postpartum and postabortal hemorrhage & Uterine stimulant & Incomplete abortion
Dosage and Administration: Tablet 0.125mg & Injection 0.2mg/1ml
Uterine stimulant:
Adult: Oral, 0.2 to 0.4mg two to four times a day, until the danger of uterine atony and hemorrhage has passed. Generally, a treatment course of 48hr is sufficient. However, in some patient, treatment for to 7 days may be necessary, especially when used for treatment of incomplete abortion.
IM or IV, 0.2mg, repeated in two to four hours if necessary, up to five doses.
Side effect: Bradycardia, coronary vasospasm, allergic reaction, myocardial infarction, nausea, uterine cramping, vomiting, abdominal or stomach pain, diarrhea, dizziness, sweating, tinnitus
